It was a bit outside my comfort zone posting something so personal.
I’m so sorry for your loss, and you are very right, it is always there with you.
But they are there guiding you and watching over you too.

It’s hard work to go into this topic. My story is that as a 13 year old I arrived home from school to be told my mother had taken her own life. So yes, since then Mothers’ Days have had a certain catch to them. For a number of reasons it was even worse for my sister; as you say, wedding, births. In some ways I took longer to notice the Mum / Grandma gaps, but they are there. And it goes on, because it’s still very significant, almost 50 years later.

It will still be so raw and heartbreaking for you all.
It certainly is a difficult one with new lives coming into the world and wanting our parents to be there to enjoy those moments and retell stories of our own childhood and share in all that is new life. Your sister will have you to turn to and hopefully this new little bundle will bring some new joy to your family. And your dad will be watching over all of you with immense pride and acting as your guardian angel.

I lost my dad last year so this really hit home and really made me feel what you go through each year. My sister is about to give birth to her first baby and I can’t imagine how she feels knowing that her little boy won’t have either of his grandfathers, because it hurts me so bad :(
You are so strong and inspiring xx
